FAQs

  • What is therapy?

As a relational integrative therapist, I see therapy as a collaborative process for positive change. It's a safe, confidential space where you can explore your concerns. I use different therapeutic approaches to help you gain insights, heal behaviours, and make positive changes. Together, we work towards fostering personal growth and well-being, focusing on authenticity, compassion, and healthy relationships.

  • What can therapy help with?

Therapy can provide support for a variety of common difficulties, including depression, feelings of stress or anxiety, relationship dynamics, grief, loss, or bereavement, trauma, problems with confidence or self-esteem, difficulties at work or in retirement, anger management, issues relating to sexuality, race, or disability, problems with family or school life, panic attacks, abuse, self-harm, and intrusive or suicidal thoughts.

  • Is therapy right for me?

The first session will be a chance to discuss if counselling is right for you. This will help you explore and clarify your reasons for seeking counselling and any expectations you may have. We will discuss our contract which will include confidentiality, fees, boundaries and how we might work together.

  • What are some of the different approaches to therapy?

In therapy, different approaches offer unique ways to understand and address concerns. As an integrative relational therapist, I combine humanistic, behavioural, and psychodynamic elements. Humanistic principles focus on client autonomy, while behavioural techniques target actions and responses. Psychodynamic perspectives explore unconscious processes. This integrative approach aims to understand each client's experiences and relationships, using diverse theories to customise interventions effectively.

  • Is therapy suitable for children, teenagers, or older adults?

Therapy benefits individuals of all ages, providing a safe space to express emotions, learn coping skills, and navigate challenges. Children develop emotional expression and coping skills, while teenagers find support in dealing with identity formation, peer pressure, and academic stress. Older adults confront issues such as grief and find solace through therapeutic exploration. Tailored approaches foster trust and enable clients to delve into their inner worlds with confidence, cultivating resilience, healthier relationships, and overall well-being.

  • What role does the therapist play in the therapeutic process?

Therapists guide and collaborate with clients, creating a safe space for exploring thoughts and emotions. They actively listen, empathise, and use tailored techniques to help clients gain insight and make positive changes. Through encouragement and feedback, therapists assist clients in navigating challenges, developing coping strategies, and achieving personal growth. Ultimately, therapists facilitate self-discovery, resilience, and holistic well-being.
